RIED – NUNN CONSTRUCTION

Meet Reid, an incoming senior from Coronado High School! Reid has been a dedicated student in the CICC program for three years, where he was part of the CICC Home Build Program and contributed to constructing a 1200-square-foot modular home. Recently, Reid secured his first job in the construction industry at Nunn Construction as a laborer. He is eager to start their carpentry apprenticeship upon graduation next May, marking the beginning of what promises to be a successful career in construction.

TYLER – ENCORE ELECTRIC

Meet Tyler, a 2024 graduate from Coronado High School! He spent four years in the Careers in Construction program, during which he helped build a 1,200-square-foot modular home through the CICC Home Build Program, and competed in regional and state-level SkillsUSA competitions. Since this interview, Tyler has secured his a job at Encore Electric!

“This program really taught me a lot, gave me all of my certifications that I really needed to pursue the workforce… I’m really grateful for what the HBA and Careers in Construction have given to me.”

JOE – VANTAGE HOMES

Joe, a 2022 graduate of Widefield High School – The MiLL and the CICC program, spent three years in CICC classes. Two years ago, he attended the CICC Career Fair and secured a job with Vantage Homes. This year, he returned to the Career Fair as an employer!

“For future generations, I really recommend trying at least one semester of CICC, whether it’s construction, welding, plumbing, any sort of trade. Not only are there endless opportunities, but you get to learn a lot along the way. Even if you don’t pursue it after high school, you still have those skills.”

JULIE – EL PASO COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

Julie, a 2022 graduate of CICC from Atlas Preparatory School, was inspired by a guest speaker from the El Paso County Department of Public Works. Motivated by this experience, she reached out, landed an interview, and secured a job with EPCDPW. Julie is working in resource management with EPC DPW and has also assumed the role of a guest speaker with CICC, where she continues to inspire students.

JOHNATHAN & CONNER – INDEPENDENT PLUMBING SOLUTIONS

Jonathan and Conner worked summer internships with Independent Plumbing Solutions in Fort Collins, CO.

Jonathan said, “Joining the IPS team couldn’t have been more of a pleasure. Having this opportunity has taught me many skills for the future. Working here has helped me in both having a job, learning to have a good work ethic and has set me up for nothing but success for time to come.”

Conner said “The opportunity to be hired by IPS and learn the plumbing trade is an amazing experience. I love the people & the work. I came into this not knowing a thing about plumbing & clueless on what to do. Now I can confidently say I learned how things work & what to do.”

They both have been offered positions at Independent Plumbing Solutions during the school year and post-graduation.

BLAKE – NUNN CONSTRUCTION

Blake graduated from Rampart High School in May 2020. By July 2020, with the help of CICC, Blake accepted a position with Nunn Construction. Blake was excited to work on his first job site at Colorado College Hockey Stadium. He said CICC set him up for success by educating him on job site operations and the importance of PPE and tool safety. Upon coordinator check-in, Blake reported that his job site excellence earned him a raise and promotion to Carpenter Apprentice. Blake is thankful for CICC for the skills he learned in the classroom and hopes to continue his career in construction as a Commercial Electrician Apprentice.
