CICC PROGRAM GROWTH

CICC’s program has grown rapidly in response to the dual needs of providing students with diverse career pathways and addressing Colorado’s workforce shortage. As the demand for skilled professionals in the construction industry continues to rise, CICC has expanded its reach to equip students with the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to thrive in this essential field. By bridging the gap between education and industry, CICC empowers students with valuable career opportunities while supporting Colorado’s economic growth and infrastructure development. This growth reflects the importance of connecting classroom learning with real-world careers to meet the needs of students and the workforce alike.

TRACKING THE CLASS OF 2024 AND 2025

In Fall 2024, Careers in Construction Colorado (CICC) launched a graduate outreach initiative to explore post-graduation pathways and measure the long term success of our program. CICC Career Navigators sent a short survey to graduates to better understand their transition from high school into the workforce and continued education.

We began with the Class of 2024. 6-months after graduation, 157 of 311 (50%) graduates responded to our survey. The results were promising, with 1 in 3 graduates pursuing construction through employment and/or continued education.

One year later, we followed up with that same class. With 100 (32%) additional responses, outcomes strengthened, with 1 in 2 graduates pursuing construction through employment and/or continued education. Wages increased, full-time employment remained high, and career satisfaction continued to outperform other industries.

Encouraged by these findings, we followed-up with the Class of 2025 6-months after they graduated. In Fall and Winter 2025, 146 of 399 (37%) of graduates responded to our survey. Although this class entered a more volatile job market, the results remain strong: We continue to see 1 in 3 graduates pursuing construction through employment and/or continued education, demonstrating the industry’s resilience.

The findings across three surveys and two graduating classes are consistent and promising. The CICC pathway provides higher wages, greater stability, and stronger early career outcomes.

Construction Provides Stronger Full-Time Employment Stability

Across both graduating classes, construction consistently delivers higher full-time employment rates than other industries. Even as the Class of 2025 entered a more volatile job market, construction maintained a clear stability advantage.

Greater Satisfaction in Construction Careers

The advantage of construction extends beyond employment and wages. Across both graduating classes, graduates working in construction report higher career satisfaction than those in other industries. Satisfaction is 25% higher in construction, reflecting stronger early-career growth.

Construction Graduates Earn More and Wages Are Rising

Graduates entering construction consistently earn more than their peers in other industries. From 2024 to 2025, average hourly wages in construction increased by $2 per hour. The wage gap remains steady across both classes, reflecting continued investment in entry-level talent in the construction industry.
